Maria Elisa Valenzuela

Maria Elisa Valenzuela, a beacon of love and wisdom, passed away peacefully on April 25, 2024, in Andrews, Texas, at the age of 78. Born on June 8, 1945, in Marfa, Texas, Maria’s life was a tapestry woven with devotion to her family, a passion for life’s simple pleasures, and a legacy of kindness that touched the hearts of all who knew her.

Maria’s journey began as the cherished daughter of Filiberta Gonzales and Victor D. Garcia, whose memories she held close to her heart following their passing. Her life was further enriched by her loving husband of 58 years, Alfonzo Valenzuela Sr., with who she married June 5, 1965, in Mexico. Her life was a testament to the power of love, as she found joy in nurturing not only her own family but also the many children she cared for as a dedicated caregiver.

She embraced her role as a mother with unparalleled grace and strength, raising four children, Virginia Kelly and husband Dwayne, Elsie Moralez and husband Oscar, Elva Valenzuela, and Alfonzo Valenzuela and wife Liliana. Maria’s legacy continues through her fifteen grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren, who will always carry the warmth of her love within them.

Maria is preceded by her parents Victor and Filiberta Garcia, seven brothers, one sister, twelve step siblings, and granddaughter Alexandra Valenzuela.

Maria’s life was filled with the joy of simple pleasures. She relished the experience of shopping, finding treasures and delights in every aisle. Her love for her husband was evident in the care and attention she devoted to him, a true partnership that was admired by all. Self-care was not just a routine for Maria but an expression of her vibrant spirit; she took pride in her appearance, from her perfectly styled hair to her meticulously manicured nails.

Traveling was one of Maria’s favorite ways to create lasting memories with her loved ones. Whether it was a short road trip or an adventure to a new destination, she cherished every moment spent exploring the world with her family. Family gatherings were the highlight of her year, where she could be found surrounded by the laughter and stories of her children and grandchildren, her wise and thoughtful presence a comforting cornerstone of every celebration.

To know Maria was to know love in its purest form. She was the embodiment of thoughtfulness, always putting others before herself and anticipating the needs of those she held dear.
