With five holes in one, yes five, some would think golf aces for Tommy Hester of Andrews are not that big a deal.

Think again!

In fact, his sixth, which Hester accomplished Sunday during the Andrews Collegiate Pro/ AM was more special.

Mustangs 8th ‘A’ way too much for Indians

The Andrews Mustangs 8 th ‘A’ football team had an absolute great outing on both sides of the ball Thursday in Seminole taking a 45-0 win over the Indians.

Leeroy Millan scored the first two touchdowns of the game on runs of 13 and 8 and Adolfo Valles caught a 24-yard scoring strike from quarterback Ryan Gafford. After Owen Lagabed found the end zone on a 4-yard run, Abraham Leos had scoring runs of 16 and 7 yards and Daylon Jefcoats kicked two extra points. Jefcoats also scored on a 16-yard run and Kyle Covington was good on the PAT.

AHS vb girls drop battle of state-ranked teams in four

The battle of highly talented high school volleyball teams in Texas, the state-ranked Andrews Lady Mustangs and the Brownfield Lady Cubs, did not turn out well for the girls in ‘Black and Gold,’ but that’s why they play the game.

The match between Coach Britney Hanna’s girls, ranked seventh in Class 4A in Texas and undefeated Brownfield, ranked fifth in 3A, was brutally competitive, but the Lady Cubs came up with crucial points at the most crucial times.

AHS 9th ‘A’ top Seminole 50-21 to stay undefeated

It took the Andrews Mustangs 9 th ‘A’ football team just about two quarters of football to get rolling but once it did -- it was non-stop excitement.

That was more than enough!

After all was said and done, Andrews claim a lopsided 50-21 home win over the Seminole Indians Thursday to remain perfect for the season at 4-wins and nolosses.

Candidates have patiently waited since May for school, city elections

They’ve been waiting patiently for quite some time now due to the virus pandemic. But the campaigning is

But the campaigning is surely starting to kick in around five months after the election was scheduled to occur.

The May school and city elections, comprised of a large number of candidates, were canceled because of COVID and rescheduled for the next uniform election—which happened to the November General Election featuring the U.S. President race.

Parade entry fee deadline is Sept. 29

The annual AHS Homecoming festivities are just around the corner!

It’s that time of the year again. The Homecoming Parade will kick things off Thursday, Oct. 1, at 7 p.m. down the regular N. Main St. route.

Parade entry forms are available on the school district’s website or at the high school attendance office. Fees must be paid and the form must be turned in by Sept. 29. Credit/debit cards will be the only payment form accepted.

A city wide pep rally is Friday, Oct. 2, at 3 p.m. at the Mustang Bowl. Designated parent and student seating must be followed.

Jose Eusbio Ramos was born on July 13th, 1961 in Ojinaga, Chihuahua Mexico. He passed away on Sunday, September 6th at his home in Alpine, Texas. He was the second oldest of seven children. Jose was preceded in death by his parents, Eusbio and Irene Ramos and a sister Maria de Jesús Marquez. Jose is survived by his wife Margarita Ramos and children Michelle Cervantes of Odessa, George Anna Muniz (Rudy Anzuldua) of Andrews, and Jose Edwardo Ramos and wife Alice of Andrews. Grandchildren C, Mari, Gavi, Jay, Clara and Bradyn and great grandchildren Savi, BooBoo, Stella and Alita all of Andrews.
