AHS freshman Noemi Ortiz went a full seven innings on the mound while limiting Pecos to six hits, plus sophomore Emmerson Chesshire had two huge hits for two RBI’s to keep the Andrews Lady Mustangs perfect in district play with a tough 4-2 road win at Pecos.

Billy Ray (Bull) Phillips was born August 29, 1932, in the small town of Ratliff, near Mansfield, Oklahoma to Ray and Almeta (Babe) Phillips. He passed away peacefully in his home in San Angelo, TX on March 19, 2024, at the age of 91 years.

Andrews High School UIL Vocal Solo and Ensemble Contest Results

The UIL Vocal Solo and Ensemble Contest was held on Saturday, February 3, at the Wagner Nöel Performing Arts Center. 2 Chorale Women’s Medium Ensembles, 1 Chorale Men’s Medium Ensemble, 9 Class 2 Soloists, 28 Class 1 Soloists and 6 Madrigals earned Division I - Superior ratings. The 28 Soloists and 6 Madrigals (a total of 56 students) qualified for the Texas State Solo and Ensemble Contest. All 106 participating AHS Choir members earned a Division 1 – Superior Gold Medal. All solos and ensembles were prepared by Michael Matlock, Conner Nall, Whitney Ellison, Kennison Vardeman, and Kathy Kuhn.
