It was a busy Fourth of July weekend for the local volunteer fire department.
There were numerous fires caused by fireworks.
There were others un-related to fireworks.
In all, the fire department responded to 18 fires from Friday through Sunday, according to Andrews County Fire Marshal Mike Cook.
“It was a pretty busy weekend,” Cook noted. “I think we wound up, all together, with 18 calls we responded to. Not all were fireworks related—we had some grassfires in the oilfield not related to fireworks.”
