Recent Andrews graduate Julian Valenzuela competed in the Permian Basin FCA All-Star football game in Odessa Saturday. Valenzuela played for the Blue team that won the game 21-10 over the Red team.
While there are 10 sports programs included in the Lone Star Cup point system and another 11 in academic and extra-curricular programs, Andrews High School did plenty well overall with 45 points to tie Lumberton High School for 14th place.
Coach Dlyan Ballard’s basketball girls team tied for second. They entered the playoffs as the third seed out of 3-4A before losing in the bi-district round.
If you’re thinking, school was just let out a few weeks ago, how can any Andrews High School sports programs be doing anything – that’s just the way things are nowadays!
