Andrews JV girls and boys teams post perfect scores

Not only did both the Andrews Lady Mustangs junior varsity and the AHS JV boys win the district Cross Country title in Pecos Monday, but they dominated.

With both teams posting perfect scores of 15, the Fillies, led by individual champ MaKenzie Ortiz (16:21), ended up with the top nine runners in the field. The AHS boys, with Greg Gonzalez (19:02) coming in first, also had a perfect score and had nine of the top 10 runners in the field.

Gafford’s Andrews girls win district junior high title, boys settled for 3rd

The Andrews Middle School girls’ Cross Country team won the district championship at Pecos Monday, while the AMS boys settled for second.

With Cecilia Cuevas winning the individual title in a time of 13:16, the young AMS girls placed five girls in the top 10 for the title. In the boys’ division, Peyton Ortiz clocked a 12:45 for third place, but Seminole finished just two points ahead of AMS for the title.

Golf tourney set for Oct. 26

The 12th Annual Our Lady of Lourdes Golf Tournament will be held at the Andrews County golf course Saturday, October 26th . The format for the one-day event is a 4-person scramble with an entry fee of $400 per team. Flight winners will be given pro shop awards and there will be a longest drive, longest putt and closest to the pin contest along with door prizes.

Teams can register at the Andrews County Pro Shop or at the Our Lady of Lourdes office or website.
