Maybe not triple digits but it sure did seem that way!

On a night set aside for the bigger things in life – like the fight against cancer – the Andrews Lady Mustangs volleyball team just added to the excitement.

Put their own stamp on the festivities!

While the importance of the night was highlighted before the Andrews and Fort Stockton district match with locals fighting or with some sort of ties to the dreaded disease getting escorted to center-court to get recognized during their annual Volley For A Cure, AHS Coach Britney Hanna’s girls followed that up with a solid 25-22, 25-6, 25-22 straight three-game match sweep.

Church golf benefit set for Oct. 26

The 12th Annual Our Lady of Lourdes Golf Tournament will be held at the Andrews County golf course Saturday, October 26th .

The format for the one-day event is a four-person scramble with an entry fee of $400 per team. Fees include green fees, cart fees, range balls and one entry in the hole-in-one contest plus a meal provided by the Knights of Columbus.

Flight winners will be given pro shop awards and there will be a longest drive, longest putt and closest to the pin contest along with door prizes.

Hereford had the better kicking game!

Andrews had the better defense!

And yes, it’s the defense that wins games!

Even if just barely!

With the Hereford Whitefaces driving to set up for a possible game winning field goal with 27 seconds left in the game, the AHS defense came up huge once again with a Jose Bustamante interception to survive and claim a thrilling 27-26 victory Friday in Hereford.

Mustangs 9th ‘A’ still perfect at 6-0

The Andrews Mustangs 9th ‘A’ freshman football team added to their perfect record with a 55-7 win over the Hereford Whitefaces Thursday to improve to 6-wins and no-losses on the season.

The AHS defense was something else holding Hereford to seven points and forcing one turnover.

The Ponies offense scored on their first possession of the game on 44-yard touchdown pass from quarterback EJ Lopez to Manuel Rojo. Rojo would add the PAT for a quick 7-0 lead.
