Andrews ISD athletes anticipating to be in athletics next school year will need to take the physicals this coming week.

Athletic physicals are set for April 23- boys and April 25-girls at Andrews Family Medicine, 2:00 -5:00 p.m.

Sabastian Ortiz has played well at the highest of levels!

As a member of the Andrews Mustangs golf team a season ago, Ortiz competed at the 2018 UIL Golf Championships state finals in Marble Falls, so he knows about pressure.

He not only plays the game and understands the game, but he also has a love for golf!

On Friday at the Andrews County golf course as he and teammates Aidan Chapman and Carder Pool walked up to the short 142-yard, par three fifth hole – the relationship between Ortiz and golf took a serious turn toward wanting more!

Andrews 7th and 8th track boys claim district titles in impressive fashion

The Andrews Mustangs 7th and 8th grade track teams both dominated the 2-4A district track meet, joining the Andrews High School boys and girls’ varsity teams and the boys and girls’ JV teams as district champions.

The Andrews 8th boys totaled 267 points to beat second place Fort Stockton

(143) by 124 points, while the AMS 7th boys finished with 157 points to top second place Seminole by just 12 points.

The Andrews Mustangs hurdling trio of (right to left) Jacob Lawson, Cody Moore and Brock Tijerina went one, two three in the 300 hurdles at the district meet to advance to Area. The Area meet will be held in Pecos, Thursday. As a program, Andrews advanced a couple of bus loads to Area in both the boys and girls field. The regioinal meet will follow in Lubbock Aprill 26 and 27 followed by the state meet in Austin May 10 and 11. A season ago, Jacob Mechler and Paxton Hair advanced to state.
