Gold playoff balls are supposed to be hard to get!

It wasn’t supposed to be hard for the Andrews Lady Mustangs to get one Monday in their bi-district match with Mountain View High School.

Not only was it not hard – it wasn’t hard at all.

Andrews pretty much did as they pleased, when they pleased in a lopsided 25-15, 25-11, 25-10 win that was actually not as close as the one-sided scores indicate.

Mind you teams still have to play four quarters of football between the hash marks, but in a world where everybody has a say-so that is more than an opinion – Andrews is better and whatever happens – believe it.

Andrews 9th fall to Steers 19-14

The Andrews Mustangs freshmen football team dropped a tough 19-14 contest to the Big Spring Steers at home last Thursday.

Pretty much a defensive battle from start to finish, Andrews scored first on a 10-yard touchdown catch by Elizar Acosta from QB Adriel Infante. The two-point conversion failed, but AHS led 6-0. Big Spring answered back with two touchdowns in the first half for a 13-7 Steers’ advantage.

The Andrews Mustangs have a good football team!

The Lake View Chiefs do not!

When they meet at the Mustang Bowl Friday for each team’s second district contest – things could get scary bad.

Not to be disrespectful but Lake View has struggled for a number of years and it seems to be getting worse.

No doubt the time will come when they turn their program around – it’s just not now.

As a 47-point pick to win, Andrews has a ton more to worry about when it comes to the play of the boys in ‘black and gold’ than what Lake View will bring to the table.
