Barbara Joan Griffin
Barbara Joan Griffin passed away on January 15, 2025, in Andrews, TX, at the age of 88. Born on September 27, 1936, in Ozona, TX, she was a woman whose spirited nature and kind heart left an indelible mark on all who knew her.
Barbara was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Johnie Griffin, and her parents, Alfred O. and Mildred Griffin. Her legacy continues through her cherished family. Barbara is survived by her son, Gary Griffin and his wife Jackie Tietje of League City, TX, her daughter Nancy Skopak and husband John of Montgomery, TX, and her son Greg Griffin and his wife Becky of Andrews, TX; her brother, Dr. Thomas Fields and wife Diana of San Antonio, TX. She was a proud grandmother to Jeff Griffin and wife Beth, Kimberly Green and husband Daniel, Matthew Skopak and wife Brittany, Scott Griffin and wife Emily, Dr. Charlie Griffin, Landon Tietje, and Reagan Tietje. Her greatgrandchildren, Owen Green, James Green, Emilia Green, Daylee Griffin, Jonathan Griffin, also survive her.
After graduating from Ozona High School, Barbara attended Sul Ross University. She was a lifelong learner and an advocate for education, inspiring her family and friends to pursue their dreams with dedication and courage.
Barbara’s role as a homemaker was one, she held dear, creating a warm and welcoming home for her family and friends. Her love for her family was the cornerstone of her life, and she nurtured her children and grandchildren with unwavering love and support. Beyond her home, Barbara’s main profession lay in the countless hours she dedicated herself to volunteering. Her involvement in the community, her church, the schools, and many other organizations was a testament to her generous spirit.
Her hobbies were many and varied, reflecting the richness of her interests and the breadth of her skills. An avid reader, Barbara, found joy and solace in the pages of countless books. She was an accomplished seamstress, fashioning beautiful garments and gifts with her talented hands. In her later years, Barbara embraced technology and loved being on the computer, connecting with loved ones and exploring the digital world with curiosity and enthusiasm.
Those who knew Barbara will remember her as a woman whose loving nature was her most defining trait. She approached life with a selfless attitude, always putting others before herself, and her spirited personality brought laughter and light into every room. Barbara’s presence was a gift to those around her, and she will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A life so beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered. Barbara Joan Griffin was truly one of a kind, and while we mourn her passing, we also celebrate the extraordinary life she led and the countless ways she enriched our world. May she rest in peace, surrounded by the love she so freely gave during her time on earth.
A Memorial Service will be held on January 25, 2025, at 10:00 AM, at First Baptist Church in Andrews, TX.
