Betty Sue McIntyre
Betty Sue McIntyre, 75, of Andrews passed away on Friday, March 15, 2019 in Andrews.
Family and friends gathered to celebrate her life at 10:00 AM Wednesday, March 20, 2019 at McNett Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Glenn Hammack officiating. Interment followed in the Andrews North Cemetery. Visitation was held from 11 AM – 9 PM Monday and 9 AM – 9 PM Tuesday, and the family received friends from 6 – 8 PM on Tuesday at the funeral home. Betty was born on January 2, 1944 in Franklin Parish, Louisiana to Curtis Elliot Sutherlin and Inez Elizabeth Hodge Sutherlin. She was raised on the family farm in Franklin Parish, was a talented basketball player, and graduated from Crowville High School. She married Willie Oliver McIntyre on April 8, 1961 in Winnsboro, Louisiana, and they moved to Andrews in 1961. She had worked as a supervisor at Kirby West and in housekeeping at Permian General Hospital. She enjoyed working in her yard and taking care of her roses and flowers. Her husband and her enjoyed their garden, where they raised okra, squash, beans, tomatoes, among other things; and gave most of it away to friends and family. She was a past member of the Moose Lodge and enjoyed playing bingo at the Catholic Church. She enjoyed gospel music and had attended House of Mercy Ministries. She enjoyed being a homemaker and a great wife and mother to her family. She was instrumental in raising in her grandchildren and was everyone’s favorite Aunt. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie, daughter, Terrie Sue Kersch, son, Jerry Oliver McIntyre, grandson, Chris Menzl, her parents, and 4 siblings, Darlene O’Bannon, Ruby Mae Staton, John D. Sutherlin, J.T. Sutherlin, and Linda Sutherlin.
Betty is survived by her 2 brothers, William “Ed” and Sandra Sutherlin of Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Jerry and Lynette Sutherlin of Winnsboro, Louisiana; 2 grandchildren James Phelps of
,
Madison, Wisconsin and Angela and Shahala Menzl of Odessa; 9 great grandchildren; and special friends, Ricky and Sharon Phillips Family of Andrews.
