Clifton C. Yocom

Clifton C. Yocom most recently of Talkeetna, Alaska passed away at home Sunday, June 9, 2024. Clifton was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather and a good friend. A gentle, huge golden heart that would give the shirt off his back if you needed one. Jovial, friendly to all, an infectious smile, and loved a good joke. We are now left to cherish the great memories and laughs that Clif left behind.

Clifton held dual degrees in Electrical and Mechanical Engineering from Texas Tech and Oklahoma University. After spending 42 years working in the oil industry, he most recently retired after 20 years with BP North Slope in 2018.

Clifton had a passion for art, photography, painting, pottery, stained glass, and fused glass projects. A slide rule in one pocket and a paint brush in another, very unique personality characteristics. There are many beneficiaries of his pottery, as well as his “piggy banks” from Texas to Alaska. His current project was setting up his pottery shop here in Talkeetna to teach pottery to children.

Clifton was born in the year of 1949 in Seminole, TX to James and Jennie Yocom. Both parents preceded him in death along with his younger sister, Judy. Clifton is survived by Diane, his wife of 33 years, four sons: Casey Yocom (wife Nicole) in AL, Tony Dodd (wife Jennifer) in TX, Thomas Yocom in TX and Robert Yocom in OK. Sister: Jeannie Creech (husband Rev. Ted Creech), Brother: Terry Yocom (wife Theresa) Sister: Janice Yocom and Brother: David Yocom (wife Francis) all from Texas. Two grandchildren, Miles Dodd (wife Rebekah) and Eric Dodd, as well as numerous nephews, nieces, grand nephews, and grandnieces.

Clifton had the good fortune of being visited by many of his family in the month of May during his brief illness. Cremains will be a later private service. He leaves a cavernous hole in many hearts, so many that love him.
