Donnie Wayne Rogers, passed away peacefully on November 26, 2024, in Andrews, Texas at the age of 89. Born in Holdenville, Oklahoma on December 21, 1934, Donnie’s journey through life was marked by an unwavering dedication to his family, a passion for the simple pleasures of life, and a kind and loving heart that left an indelible mark on all who knew him.

Donnie’s life was one rich with the joys of fatherhood and the laughter of children. He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Margaret Louise, his three devoted sons, Jerry Rogers and wife JoAnn of Collinsville, OK, Monty Rogers and wife Cathy of Andrews, TX, and Stephen Rogers and wife Linda of Benbrook, TX., along with his daughter- in-law, Trish Carrasco, and husband John of Lubbock, TX. His legacy further blooms through his ten grandchildren, Jeremy, Jamie, Brandon, KrisAnn, Kent, Cole, Kimberly, Scuba, Savannah, and Rhett, and is carried on by the twinkling eyes and joyful giggles of his 15 great-grandchildren, Mason, Norah, Sophie, Lane, Jillian, Calen, Brylon, Dawson, Penelope, Beckett, Charli, Everett, Luke, Palmer, and Aubree. Donnie was the cornerstone of a family that revered him, and his influence will be felt through generations.

Though he was preceded in death by his parents, Omer and Koie Rogers, as well as his son, Perry Rogers, great-granddaughter, Kinley Rogers, five brothers and one sister, the memories and values he instilled remain a guiding light for his family. Donnie’s life was a testament to the enduring bonds of family, and his lessons of love and kindness are etched into the hearts of those he leaves behind.

An avid outdoorsman, his love for hunting and fishing spoke of a man who cherished the quiet moments that come from a day spent in the embrace of the wilderness. Donnie also possessed an artistic spirit, with woodworking being one of his many talents. He was a hard and devoted worker, he was a member of the Conoco team for 37 years, retiring in 1986.

Donnie’s interest in genealogy was another facet of his love for family. He delved into the branches of his family tree, tracing the roots that grounded him and seeking to understand the stories that wove the fabric of his heritage. This pursuit was more than a hobby; it was a way of honoring those who came before him and preserving their legacy for those who would follow.

A lifelong fan of NASCAR, Donnie’s enthusiasm for the roar of the engines and the thrill of the race was contagious. He shared this passion with friends and family, often sparking spirited conversations about the latest race or his favorite drivers.

Above all, Donnie’s heart belonged to his grandchildren. The precious moments spent with them were the highlight of his life. He adored each one, and his eyes would light up with joy in their presence. The time he dedicated to them, the stories he told, and the wisdom he shared are treasures that his grandchildren will carry with them always.

A Celebration of life dinner for family and friends was held at 12:00PM, Friday, November 29, 2024, at the Church of Christ in Andrews, TX.
