Doris Fay Weeks Golden
On February 19, 2022, Doris Fay Weeks Golden at the age of 104 years, six months, and six days gained her heavenly home. She was born in Iredell, Bosque County, Texas on July 13, 1917, to Nelson Willard Weeks and Mary Frances Weeks.
She grew up on the Weeks’ family farm until her dad went to the oil patch in Wichita County, Texas, when the family moved into one of the first oil field camps near Mankins, Texas. It was here she met her future husband, Joseph Weldon “Cotton” Golden. They were married on August 5, 1941, in Altus, Oklahoma. “Cotton” and Doris shared a loving and devoted marriage for 64 years until his death in 2003. She was also preceded in death by her parents, 2 sisters and a brother.
Doris was a homemaker, trained as a beautian, and real estate agent. She was a skilled seamstress and quilter. She was a Christian woman who loved the Lord and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Andrews since July 1959. She was a charter member of the Permian Basin Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, Andrews Senior Citizens Center, and the Andrews Art Guild.
Survivors include her daughters, Jane Lassiter (Coker) and Phillis Nelson (Ted). Also left to cherish her are seven grandchildren, Max Nelson (Tanna), Lea Ann Wilson (Darrell) Joni Ellis (Clint), Ross Lassiter (Misty), and Thad Nelson. Great grandchildren Kinsey Loya (Braden), Kristyn Wilson (Keiondre), Kylar Wilson, Madison Ellis, Mallorie Ellis (Taheric), Ingrid Haack (Sheldon), Luke Nelson, Logan Lassiter, and Landon Lassiter. She also has surviving nine greatgreat grandchildren.
The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude and thanks to the staff at Permian Residential Care Center for their compassionate care, kindness, and the love they shared with her.
