Dorothy Cox
Graveside services for Dorothy Cox, age 100 of Seagraves, Texas will be held on Thursday, October 28 at 1:00 p.m. at Gaines County Cemetery Seagraves with Pastor Phillip Golden officiating. All services are under the direction of Boyer Funeral Home.
Mrs. Cox was born October 22, 1921 in Childress, Texas to Mittie (Fields) and Leo Preston. She married Owen Cox in Tulia, Texas on August 21, 1960. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Seagraves. Dorothy had worked for the Childress Army Air Base during World War II; she also worked for West Texas Utilities and for the cities of Tulia and Seagraves as the tax collector for over twenty years. She loved life and never met a stranger. She was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan, and she loved her family dearly.
Dorothy Cox passed away at Yoakum County Hospital in Denver City, Texas on October 23, 2021. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her first husband, Forrest Ryan in 1956; her second husband, Owen Cox in 1996; one brother, one sister, and one grandson, Dallas Keel in 2017. She is survived by two daughters, Linda Woehl and husband Claus of Seagraves, Texas, and Kellie Keel and husband Wayne of Andrews, Texas; four grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
