Fonda Lee Johnson
Fonda Lee Johnson, aged 62, passed away peacefully in Andrews, TX, on October 19, 2024. Born on August 27, 1962, in Hobbs, NM, Fonda was a beacon of love and generosity, whose warmth and kindness enriched the lives of all who knew her.
Fonda’s life was one marked by devotion to her family. She married the love of her life, Doug Johnson, on August 12, 1993, in Lovington, New Mexico. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with joy and laughter. She leaves behind a loving husband, Doug Johnson of Andrews; her father, Delbert Sanderson of Hobbs; her mother, Patsy Law and stepfather Jim of Hobbs; her cherished sons, Justin Johnson and wife Kelli of Andrews, Rodney Thompson and wife Amanda of Hobbs, and Chris Johnson and wife Natasha of Andrews; her adored daughters, Misty Johnson, and Victoria Johnson-Grinslade, both of Andrews; her brothers, Darren Sanderson of Lubbock, and Chance Sanderson and wife Samantha of Little Elm; and her sister, Shakenna Law of Hobbs.
Fonda’s legacy also lives on through her treasured grandchildren, Jacee, Everett, Winzer, Kimmie, Benjamin, Addison, Drayden, and Maddox, who brought her immeasurable joy. Her role as ‘Nana’ extended beyond her biological grandchildren to Brynleigh, Jaxon, Emmalyn, and Ty, who were all embraced by her boundless love.
As the owner of Smoker’s Discount for 30 years, Fonda was more than a businesswoman; she was a pillar of the Andrews community. Her involvement with local school groups and support for the children in the area was a testament to her belief in giving back and nurturing future generations.
Fonda’s heart and home were always open, with a table perpetually set for anyone in need of a meal or a friendly chat. She was a confidante and supporter to countless individuals, offering a listening ear and a helping hand whenever called upon. Her smile was a constant, lighting up rooms and hearts alike.
Her love for her children was immense, but it was her grandchildren who elevated her pride to new heights. Family was the cornerstone of Fonda’s life, and she celebrated every moment with them, whether through everyday achievements or grand milestones.
Among her many passions, Fonda found solace and joy in the mountains, a place where she felt at peace and connected with the natural world. Her spirit of adventure and appreciation for the beauty of the outdoors was something she shared with her loved ones. Fonda Lee Johnson will be remembered as a woman of extraordinary kindness, a loving wife, a devoted mother and grandmother, a caring sister, and a friend to many.
Family and friends gathered to celebrate Fonda’s life at 10:00AM, Thursday, October 24, 2024, at the Andrews County North Cemetery with Larry Brewer officiating. Arrangements are under the personal care of McNett Funeral Home.
