Frederick Herzberger
Frederick (Rick/Ricky) William Herzberger of Allen, Texas passed away May 1, 2021 at the age of 69 due to a sudden stroke. He was born on February 21, 1952 to James Robert Herzberger and Laurys Annie (Hadden) Herzberger in Wilmington, Ohio. Rick was a 1970 graduate of Andrews High School in Andrews, Texas. He worked as a brick mason and in the oil & gas industry in Andrews for many years. Rick and his family moved to DFW in 1990 where he started his professional career in building inspections and development services with many North Texas municipalities. Rick was currently serving as the Chief Building Official for the City of McKinney. He was a loving father and amazing grandfather, and his family was most important to him. Rick loved his daily indoor cycle classes, enjoyed the guitar and harmonica, and was passionate about supporting his grandchildren in all their activities.
He is survived by his daughters, Rikie Herzberger of Plano, Texas and (Candise) Lucky Herzberger of McKinney, Texas; grandchildren, Ericka Smith, Kennedy Thomas, Journey Thomas, and Caynan Russell; sister, Suzanne Smith and husband, Emory; and numerous other loving family and friends.
Rick was preceded in death by his parents, James and Laurys Herzberger and brother, Art Herzberger.
A Memorial Gathering will be held Saturday, May 15, 2021 at 12:00 noon at Grace Baptist Church of Andrews, 507 NE 4th Street Andrews, TX 79714 in the Fellowship Hall.
