He was born on June 22, 1962, in Shawnee, Oklahoma to Jerry Rushing and Doris Cook. Gary liked being outdoors, fishing, camping, cooking out on the grill, and being with his family. Gary was a jokester. Gary loved doing mechanic repairs, he owned his own business for 20 plus years. He also enjoyed going to car shows, he loved Ford Trucks.

He is survived by his wife, Callie Rushing of Andrews, Texas, Parent, Jean McFarland, and husband Curtis of McLoud, Oklahoma, Step Mom, Fran Rushing of Andrews, Texas, Sons, Cashton Heath, Clayton Heath, And Colton Heath, and wife Ashley, all of Oklahoma, Daughters, Crystal Rushing, and Rachel Rushing, both of Andrews, Texas, brothers, Larry Rushing of Oklahoma, Step-brother, Jimmy Paris of Andrews, Texas, sister, Deloris Ford of Oklahoma, stepsister, Deborah Drake, and husband Ricky of Andrews, Texas.
