Funeral services for Jimmie Lee Hamilton, age 82 of Seagraves, Texas was held Friday, January 21, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Seminole with Dr. Jim Miles officiating. Burial followed at Gaines County Cemetery in Seagraves, Texas. Family hosted a visitation on Thursday, January 20, 2022 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Boyer Funeral Home in Seminole. All services are under the direction of Boyer Funeral Home.
Coach Hamilton was born December 7, 1939 in Brownfield, Texas to Mozelle (Kennedy) and Lee Roy Hamilton. He married Jerry Xan Hudson in Seagraves, Texas on July 24, 1959. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Seminole and worked for Seagraves Independent School District for many years as a teacher, head football and basketball coach, as well as interim principal. He retired in 2000 after 22 years of service. He had a great love for all the young players and coaches and enjoyed seeing them excel. He always had a kind and gentle spirit, and didn’t anger easily. He loved his family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren dearly.
Jim played college football for Ranger Junior College, Abilene Christian University, West Texas College and finally Eastern New Mexico University in Portales, New Mexico. Many lifelong friends were made during these years.
Jimmie Hamilton passed away Sunday, January 16, 2022 at Legacy Ranch Nursing Home in Midland, Texas. In addition to his parents, Jimmie Hamilton is preceded in death by his wife, Jerry Hamilton in 2019; and one son, Doug Hamilton in 2018.
He is survived by one daughter, Holly Kidd and husband Ricky of Andrews, Texas; one brother, Dwight Hamilton and wife Debbie of Plano, Texas; one sister, Diann Middleton and husband Dewey of Ulysses, Kansas; three grandchildren, Regan Weaver and husband Paul of Odessa, Texas, Matt Hamilton and fiancé Stefanie Malouf of San Angelo, Texas, and Ryan Hamilton and wife Morgan of Andover, Kansas; and four greatgrandchildren, Taylor Weaver, Kinley Weaver, Hudson Hamilton, and Landree Hamilton.
