A dearly loved soul, Jo Marie Perryman, 81, passed away at her home surrounded by her family and friends on Wednesday, October 12, 2022. Her funeral service will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 18, 2022, in the Melton-Kitchens Chapel of Memories. Her family will welcome friends for a visitation at the funeral home from 5:00-6:00 p.m. on Monday, October 17, 2022.

Jo Marie was born to Charles and Harriett Cox Jameson in 1941. Jodie, as most called her, was an independent, headstrong woman who worked hard throughout her life to raise, care for, and provide for her children. She devoted her life to them and, as a result, built a large extended family. She was always easy to talk to, and her heart of gold made her home a place anyone could feel comfortable in. Jodie’s house was the place to hang out after school and on the weekends for all the many kids that called her Mom.

She had a quick wit and a clever sense of humor which kept everyone who knew her on their toes. lt was rare to win a battle of wits with her. She always had open arms and an ear to listen to your problems. Through the years, she had many close friends that she called family. She worked in retail most of her life and loved her regular customers and co-workers. Though you wouldn’t expect it, she loved playing video games! She gave her kids a run for their money when it came to Pac-Man, Kaboom, Yar’s Revenge, and Super Mario Brothers. She also loved a good card game or board game with friends and family.

Jodie will always be remembered for her creativity. She enjoyed crafting, crocheting, sewing, and making holiday decorations with her children. The love she had poured over into everything she made, including stuff made in the kitchen. Everyone would rave over her home-cooked meals, especially her chicken enchiladas, burritos, fried chicken, doughnuts, and Christmas candies. She was an avid reader, and you could easily find a Stephen King or Dean Koontz book within arm’s reach.

Jodie was truly devoted to her children. Even as they grew up and had families of their own, she remained a pivotal part of their lives and the lives of her grandchildren. Jo was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Isabel Cota Jameson, and her birth mother, Harriett Cox Jameson. She is survived by her daughter, Francie Hinesly and husband Cody; two sons, Tom Perryman and wife Sarah, and Bill Perryman and wife Brett; seven grandchildren, Taylor Perryman, Joe Perryman, Logan Baber, Jacob Perryman, Gracie Perryman, Cody Moore -- who called her “Grand Friend,” and Zian Perryman – who called her “Purple Grandma;” as well as her three greatgrandchildren, Brantley, lris, and Griffin. During her last few months, she was surrounded by those who dearly loved her, and she will be remembered as a strong, loving, compassionate, and understanding woman. She will be dearly missed by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Memorial donations in Jodie’s name can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and can be mailed to Melton-Kitchens Funeral Home, 415 W. Williams St., Breckenridge, TX 76424. Condolences can be made online at meltonkitchens. com
