Julia Smyers
Julia Smyers, 97, formerly of Andrews and Odessa, TX, passed from this life, resting quietly at last. Born Julia Ann Planamento in Freeland, PA, on May 5, 1927. She was the fourth of nine siblings, born to Vincent and Theresa Norone Planamento.
She met and married Glen Smyers of Globe, Arizona at the end of World War II. She then found herself on a train and finally a bus to Andrews, TX. She and Glen started a family and raised three children. She retired from the County Clerks office after 25 plus years of service as a Deputy Clerk in both Andrews and Ector Counties. She remained in Odessa until 2023, when she moved to assisted living in San Angelo. She enjoyed shopping for sales, square dancing, polka dancing, and spending vacations at their cabin in Arizona. Julia is preceded in death by her husband, Glen, and her eight siblings, and daughter in law, Candy Smyers.
She is survived by her three children, Glenda Powers and Tom of Morenci, AZ, Mike Smyers of Denver City, TX, and Roy Smyers and Cindy of San Angelo, TX; five grandchildren, Tiffany Powers of Morenci, Eddie Smyers, Brittni Hill and Thomas of Abilene, TX, Seth Smyers and Alicia of Odessa, TX, and Shannon Dean and Cody of Dove Creek, TX; and three great grandchildren, Wyatt, Shep, and Michael.
A graveside service in the Andrews Old Cemetery will be held at a future date.
