Kim Lee Gray, age 70, of Andrews Texas, passed from this life Thursday, September 28, 2023, in Andrews, TX.
Family and friends gathered for a graveside service at 10:00AM, Monday, October 2, 2023, at the Andrews County North Cemetery, with pastor Kevin Covington officiating. Arrangements were under the personal care of McNett Funeral Home.
Kim was born August 22, 1953, in Pampa, Texas to Newton M. Gray and Dorothy Wilkins. Kim started his career serving as military police for the United States Air Force for 6 years before he was honorably discharged in 1979. He then pursued a law enforcement degree and served for 3 years at San Angelo police department before joining the Andrews Police Department in 1986. Kim remained at the police department for 32 years before retiring as Assistant Police Chief in 2018. Kim’s passion for police work and the Andrews community was unsurpassed.
He was an avid outdoor recreational enthusiast. Whether he was flying, repelling or sky diving, he was always one to push the limits. One of his favorite hobbies included being a pilot. He proudly served the Civil Air Patrol for over 25 years. He also loved to fly aerobatics in his biplane.
Most importantly, Kim loved his family. He was a devoted husband, son, brother, father and grandfather. He enjoyed traveling around Texas, (his absolutely favorite place in the world) , with his father and brothers. He also enjoyed watching his grandkids in their various activities throughout the years. His love for family was cherished by the entire family and he will be missed dearly.
Kim is survived by his wife of 32 years: Debra Gray of Andrews, TX; son: Mitch Gray and wife Amber and their 3 children Addison Gray; Brooklyn Gray; and Britain Gray all of Flower Mound, TX; daughter: Robin Rushing and husband David and their 2 children Alyssa Rushing and Matthew Rushing all of Lafayette, LA; and brothers: Larry Gray and wife Dana of San Angelo, TX; Michael Gray of Alpine, TX; and Jeff Gray of Phoenix, AZ.
He is preceded in death by parents: Newton and Dorothy Gray; and sister: Gayle Gray.
