Larry Donham
Larry Donham passed from this world on March 29 to join his beloved Mary. He was 83 years old.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm Wednesday at First Baptist Church in Andrews, TX, with Pastor Brant O’Connor officiating. Larry and Mary were members of AFBC for 50 years.
Larry was born on July 18, 1939, in Santa Anna, TX to AD and Carmen Donham. Larry spent his youth in Santa Anna, graduating from SAHS in 1957. He joined the US Air Force after graduation, then attended McMurry University in Abilene, TX. He graduated from Texas Tech University in 1972 with a degree in architecture.
Larry met the love of his life, Mary in Abilene, TX. They later married in Coleman, TX on Aug. 27, 1965. They spent 57 happy years together living in Houston and Lubbock, where he worked for Bill Cantrell. They finally moved to Andrews, TX making it their permanent home where Larry formed a partnership with Tommie Huckabee Architectural firm. The firm designed schools, sports complexes and other facilities all around the state of Texas.
As a Texas Tech Alumni, Larry and Mary were lifelong fans of the Red Raiders, attending football and basketball games. They traveled extensively to see favorite gospel groups and other favorite bands. They also saw much of the world in their time together. Larry loved being outdoors working in the yard. He especially loved spending time on his farm on the Colorado River.
Larry was preceded in death by his precious wife Mary and his parents, AD and Carmen Donham, his sister, Janice Cozart and brother Marty Donham. He is survived by best friends and inlaws Sallye and Tommy Lyles of Floydada, TX. Also left to cherish his memory is his nephew Jeff Lyles of Amarillo. He is also survived by nieces, Michelle Cozart Morgan, Cindy Cozart Sparacino and Suzette Cozart Wristen. Nephews Glenn Donham, Michael Donham and Stephen Donham.
