Larry was born on November 12, 1949 in Brownfield, Texas to Avis and Jimmy Owen ‘J.O.’ Farrar. He graduated from Brownfield High School in 1968. While attending Texas Tech University he was drafted by the U.S. Army to serve in the Vietnam Conflict and was honorably discharged as Specialist E-5. After returning home, he worked as a flight instructor and charter pilot in Brownfield, Texas. He later began working for Amoco in 1988 and retired from BP as a software engineer in April 2019. He had a love for the outdoors, he enjoyed hunting, and he had a passion for fly fishing. At a young age while on a family vacation, he caught a trout on a fly he tied when he was nine. From that point on his love for fly fishing grew and many times on family vacations to Colorado he would leave early in the morning with nothing more than a sandwich and his fishing gear not returning until the evening. Not only was he an avid fly fisherman he loved to bird hunt, especially with dogs. Over the years he had several good bird dogs and often said there was nothing prettier than watching a good bird dog work. He passed down his love of the outdoors to his son Andrew where they spent many weekends on the water fishing or in the woods hunting. Over the years he took numerous hunting or fishing trips but one of his favorites was a trip to South Africa. He loved seeing all the wildlife and called it a hunt of a life time.

Larry is preceded in death by his mother and father Avis and J.O.

Larry is survived by, his son Andrew Farrar and wife Erin of Las Vegas, Nevada, his brothers Leonard Farrar of Heron Montana and Gary Farrar of Brownfield Texas, and Granddaughter Grayce Farrar (Little Reel).
