Margarita “Maggie” Gomez

Margarita “Maggie” Gomez, 62, of Andrews passed away on Friday, December 4, 2020 in Andrews.

Family and friends gathered to celebrate her life at 10:00 AM Wednesday, December 9, 2020 at La Nueva Jerusalem Church in Andrews with Pastor Isai Garcia officiating. Visitation was held on Tuesday at the church. Cremation is under the personal care of McNett Funeral Home.

Maggie was born on January 26, 1958 to Mauricio Gonzales and Rita Barrera in Sanderson, Texas. She married Mario Gomez on July 7, 1974 in Andrews. Maggie worked as a bilingual Teacher’s Aide for AISD for 20 years. Maggie loved having friends and family over, watching her grandchildren play sports and loved cooking. She enjoyed gardening, spending time with her husband and most importantly cherished the Sunday lunches she had with her family. She was full of wisdom and always had the perfect advice when you needed it most. She was a God-fearing woman who never strayed away from her faith, despite everything that she faced in life.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Mauricio Gonzales and Rita Barrera, daughter, Sandra Gomez, sister, Diana Gallegos and a brother, Sonny Gonzales.

She is survived by her husband of 46 years Mario Gomez of Andrews, sons, Gerardo Gomez, Gabriel Gomez and wife Martha and Adrian Gomez and wife Crystal all of Andrews, sisters, Maria Gonzales and Elida Gonzales both of Andrews and 7 grandchildren.
