Martha Lea Riley Hungerford

Martha Lea Riley Hungerford, formerly of Andrews, Texas was born March 21, 1930 to Samie and Mamie Riley in Fisher Co. Texas. She married Bertram Henry Hungerford on May 31, 1947 in Brownfield, Texas. She was a pastor’s wife, mother, Sunday school teacher, and caregiver to her parents and others. She loved to bake and play card and domino games. Her pecan pie and her apple dumplings were prize winners. Her chocolate pie was the family favorite. She also delivered treats regularly to her friends at the Andrews ARC.

Martha died suddenly Sunday morning, May 23, 2021 in Mansfield, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 brother, 2 sisters, and Bert, her husband of almost 72 years. She will be missed by her sister, Cora Holmes, her daughters and their husbands Linda Carruth, Kathryn and Michael Mounce, Debbie and Vic Brevard, seven grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren and extended family and friends.

Family and friends gathered to celebrate her life at 10:00 AM Friday, May 28, 2021 at the McNett Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kevin Covington officiating. Interment followed in the Andrews Old Cemetery. The family received friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Thursday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers are Wayne Carruth, Joshua Brevard, Cole Brevard, Isaac Mounce, Matthew Mounce and John Mounce.
