Nancy Harmon, 78 of Andrews, Texas passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 26, 2019 in Odessa.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate her life at a Memorial Service at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, January 1, 2020 at McNett Funeral Home Chapel in Andrews with John Snider officiating. Nancy was born on August 10, 1941 in Dalhart, Texas to Richard Lee Heverly and Ruth Castle-berry Heverly. She grew up in Dalhart, where she attended Dalhart Baptist Church and graduated from Dalhart High School in in 1959. As a young lady, she learned and enjoyed playing the piano and many other instruments, including the accordion. She had lived in Fort Collins, Colorado, Corpus Christi, and Red River, New Mexico. She met the love of her life Dennis LeRoy Harmon in Raton, New Mexico, and they were married on December 26, 1959 at the Raton Baptist Church. On the day of their wedding, a snowstorm came through, but they were determined to get married. They started their lives together in Amarillo, Texas and they moved to Vega, Texas in 1968, where they started their careers in ranching. As a rancher’s wife, she was expected to feed up to 30 ranch hands and help Dennis with the daily chores. She taught Girl Scouts, enjoyed exploring and collecting arrowheads, reading horror books and movies. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and grandson, Cimmaron Dakota Harmon.
Nancy is survived by her husband, Dennis Harmon of Andrews, daughter, Denise LeAnne Munsell and husband, Mickey, of Cushing, Oklahoma, son, Mike Harmon and wife, Kelli, of Andrews, 2 sisters, Patricia Haldi of Spokane, Washington and Kathy Barn-ham of Montrose, Colorado, 2 brothers, Victor Heverly of Lubbock and Guy Weldon Crow of Fort Worth, 3 grandchildren, CheyAnne Lang and husband, Heath, Tanner Munsell and wife, Ashley, and Whitney Turnacliff, 5 great grandchildren, Tucker, Reatta, Tatum, Tyson and Sage.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Scottish Rite and Breast Cancer Awareness. The family would like to thank Permian Residential Care Center for their loving care.
