Robert Neyland McCrary
Funeral services for Robert Neyland McCrary, age 75, of Lindale, Texas were held at 10:00 AM Saturday, February 27, 2021 at the Caudle-Rutledge-Daugherty Funeral Home in Lindale, Texas with Mr. Dylan Bacon officiating. Rev. Melba Napper presented the Eulogy. Interment followed in the Lindale City Cemetery with services under the direction of Caudle-Rutledge-Daugherty Funeral Home in Lindale.
Robert went to be with his Lord and Savior February 14, 2021 after a short battle with cancer.
He was born in Tahoka, Tx on November 2, 1945 to the late Robert William (Bob) and Berta Faye (Richardson) McCrary and was a longtime resident of Andrews, Texas. Neyland served in the Army National Guard. He and his wife owned and operated Andrews Iron and Supply for 35 years before moving to Lindale 3 years ago to be closer to their grandchildren. He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Andrews, Texas.
He was a gentle, loving man who was known for his gift of gab and his ability to strike up a conversation with anyone he met. He is a lifetime sponsor of the FFA and was made an honorary member of the Lindale chapter back in 2018. This was an honor he held close to his heart. His love for animals is one legacy he left to his grandchildren and the students of the Lindale FFA who all called him “Papaw”. He loved the opportunity to haul cattle or pigs to shows and these memories will be cherished by many here in the community of Lindale.
Neyland is survived by his wife of 47 years, Brenda Crouch McCrary of Lindale; daughter and son-in-law, Amy and Blaine Thompson of Lindale; son, Doug McCrary of Lindale; grandchildren, Allie Thompson of Midland, Texas, Ashlie Thompson of Lubbock, Texas, Tyler Thompson and Atalie Thompson, both of Lindale, Texas; sisters and brother-in-law, Joan and Melvin Lobstein of Sparenberg, Texas and Iris Sager of Lubbock, Texas; his wife’s siblings and spouses, Fred Crouch of Lindale, Kenneth and Karen Crouch of Sanger, Texas, Denny and Janice McKibben of Montgomery, Texas. He was loved by several nieces and nephews all across Texas and Oklahoma.
Serving as pallbearers were Rey Alvidrez, Cody Crouch, Reece McFarlin, Ty Sager, Josh Weaver, and Greg Williams. Honorary pallbearers were Robert McClain, John Mitchell, Gerald Thomas, and Reagan Weesner.
The family received friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday, February 26, 2021 at the Caudle-Rutledge-Daugherty Funeral Home in Lindale.
