Roman Zarate, 14, of Andrews passed away on Tuesday, October 8, 2019 in Andrews.

Family and friends will gather to celebrate his life at 2:00 PM on Saturday, October 12, 2019 at Jubilee for Jesus Ministries, 1702 West Broadway, in Andrews. Visitation will be from 5 – 9 PM on Friday and 9 AM – 2 PM on Saturday at Jubilee for Jesus Ministries. Cremation arrangements are under the personal care of McNett Funeral Home in Andrews. Roman was born on October 22, 2004 in Plainview, Texas to Samantha Lynn Martinez and Victor Jesus Zarate. He was raised in Andrews and was in the 8th Grade at Andrews Middle School and involved in One Act Play.

He also spent time in the summers with his grandparents in Kress. He loved his older sister, Jazzi, and loved to pick on his younger brother, Eloy, and he was known to them as “Brother”. He enjoyed reading, skate boarding, and listening to all types of music. He will be remembered for trying to do the right thing, had a big heart and was sweet and kind to others. He loved spending time with his dog, Cujo.

Roman is survived by his mother, Samantha Martinez and Josue Colin of Andrews, father, Victor Zarate of Kress, sister, Jazzi Martinez of Andrews, brother, Eloy Lopez of Andrews, grandparents, Christina Mendoza and Manuel Marquez of Andrews and Samuel and Lala Zarate of Kress, great grandparents, David and Linda Mendoza of Floydada, uncles and aunts, John Martinez of Andrews, Paige Martinez of San Angelo, Sally and Bob Austin of Lubbock, Esperanza Zarate of Dallas, and Rosana Trevino of Kress. He was preceded in death by his uncle, Patricio Mendoza, Jr. and cousin, Mark Tristan.
