Ronald Glyn Rice
Ronald Glyn Rice (Ronny) of Cedar Hill, Texas formerly of Andrews, Texas passed away on Friday, January 15, 2021 in the memory care facility at Crescent Place in Cedar Hill, Texas.
Ronny and his twin brother, Bobby were born on April 27, 1944 in Stamford, Texas to J.R. Rice and Theda Lou Dodgen. He went to school in Stamford, Texas from 1st grade through 12th grade, and then went on to Cisco Jr. College for two years. He then moved to Odessa, Texas, worked in a few jobs before going to work for Tretolite Chemical Company which later merged with Baker Hughes where he worked until he retired.
He met his wife, Linda Vinson in high school, and they married on January 15, 1966. They lived in Odessa, Texas from 1966 until they were transferred to Andrews, Texas in 1974. In 1969, Jodi Michele was born and was the joy of his life. Five years later in 1974 they had another daughter, Johnna Melissa which then double that joy. He often referred to Linda, Jodi, and Johnna as “the girls”. He was truly a family man. His happiness became even greater when he had sons-in-law, grandkids, which called him, “Grampy”, and then great granddaughters.
Ronny never met a stranger, always had a king word to say, always had a smile on his face, and had a laugh that was contagious. He had a strong faith in the Lord. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Andrews, Texas where he was a deacon and worked in the children’s ministry. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, bird hunting, or just working in the yard. He loved watching the Dallas Cowboys and the Texas Tech Red Raiders play football.
He is preceded in death by his parents, J.R. and Theda Rice. He is survived by his wife, Linda of 55 years; daughters, Jodi and husband Daniel Renteria of Katy, Texas, and Johnna and husband Jeff Thompson of Cedar Hill, Texas; granddaughter, Jordan Renteria; grandsons, Evan and Zachary Renteria; and three great granddaughters, Aubrey, Brylie, and Callie; his twin brother, Bobby and wife Jeanie of Snyder, Texas; sister, Melinda Rice of Stamford, Texas, and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends that loved him dearly.
Ronny will have a public visitation on Tuesday, January 19, 2021 from 2:00 – 6:00 pm and the funeral service will be held Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at 10:00 am, both at Sacred Funeral Home 1395 N. Highway 67 South, Cedar Hill, Texas 75104.
