Sarah Alexander White
Sarah Alexander White passed away on November 29, 2022 in San Angelo, Texas.
Family and friends gathered to celebrate her life at 2pm, Thursday, December 1, 2022 at the McNett Funeral Home Chapel with J. Bailey officiating. Interment followed in the Andrews Old Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care of McNett Funeral Home.
She was born February 21, 1927, in Merkel, Texas, to the late Agnes Eloise Kelley and Marcus Hobart Kelley. Sarah lived most of her life in West Texas. She graduated from Big Spring High School in 1942 and earned some college hours from Odessa College.
Sarah was married to the love of her life, Alvis Hi Alexander on December 13, 1946. Hi preceded her in death on November 3, 1977. They had two children: Michael Hi Alexander and Patricia Gayle Alexander. They were a very close, loving family. Sarah was a homemaker but also worked outside the home for about 29 years. She worked mostly in the secretarial field. Eleven of those years she was secretary for the Andrews County Judge. The last 4.5 years she was the Municipal Judge for the City of Andrews. Their children grew up in Andrews and Odessa.
Sarah enjoyed reading, playing golf, traveling, dancing and spending time with her family. She was also an avid Bridge player and was a member of the American Contract Bridge League. She attained the status of Silver Life Master. Her interest in playing Bridge and traveling took her to many interesting places to play in Bridge tournaments and see the sights.
After being a widow for almost 10 years, she met and married Charles Robert White on July 10, 1987. They enjoyed two happy years together until he passed away on June 18, 1989. Sarah was also preceded in death by her parents, sisters Ila Ruth Sullivan and Willie Belle Dehlinger. Sarah moved to San Angelo, Texas in 2012 to be near her children. She is survived by her son Michael Hi Alexander and wife Wanda, daughter Patricia Gayle Finley and husband Mickey and five grandchildren: Clint Cade Finley (Na’Tassia), Brad Alexander, Sarah Elizabeth Lilie (Matt), Jon Michael Alexander (Kailey) and Joe Jon Finley (Caylee). She had 13 great-grandchildren.
