Winnie Inez Martin, age 86, of Coleman, died Saturday, February 27, 2021 at the Coleman County Medical Center.

The family will host a visitation from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 2, 2021 at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel. A funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 3, 2021 at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Chas Shira, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will follow in the Coleman City Cemetery. Services are entrusted to Stevens Funeral Home, 400 W. Pecan Street, in Coleman.

She was born Winnie Inez Smith on March 14, 1934 in Gouldbusk to Richard Ezra Smith and Mary Irene Bowen Smith. Winnie grew up in Brownfield and graduated from Brownfield High School in 1951. She worked at the Brownfield Drug Store where she learned to make the best milkshakes. Winnie married Coy R. Martin on December 17, 1951 in Lovington, New Mexico. He preceded her in death on February 7, 2009. Winnie and Coy lived in Odessa, Andrews, and New Braunfels before moving to Coleman in 1987. She was a superb seamstress and worked at The Fabric Store when living in Andrews. Winnie also sewed for the Coleman Independent School District helping make uniforms for the children’s activities. She loved to read, and she just about read every book that was at the Coleman Public Library. Winnie loved her family and was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Coleman.

Along with her husband, Winnie is also preceded in death by her parents; five brothers; and six sisters.

She is survived by her children, Patricia Masterson and husband Fred of Sherman, Kathie Spears of Coleman, Deana Bremerman of Coleman, Carla Mosley and husband Jamie of Houston, Coy Martin, Jr. and wife Lisa of Andrews, and Mark Martin and wife Gaye of Andrews. 12 grandchildren; 23 greatgrandchildren; and one sister, Josephine Grizzle of Caledonia, Wisconsin.

Memorials are suggested in memory of Winnie to the Coleman Public Library, 402 S. Commercial Avenue, Coleman, Texas 76834 or to the Coleman County Ladies Auxiliary, 310 South Pecos Street, Coleman, Texas 76834.
