Milton Puckett
Milton Puckett, 86, of Andrews passed away on Monday, November 12, 2018 in Andrews.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate his life at 10:00 AM Friday, November 16, 2018 at the First Baptist Church, 201 NE 2nd Street, in Andrews with Pastor Brant O’Connor officiating. Military graveside rites will follow in the Andrews West Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 PM on Thursday at McNett Funeral Home in Andrews. Milton was born on March 15, 1932 in Glade-water, Texas to Everett Puckett and Ruby Stephens Puckett. He was graduated from Denver City High School in 1950 and worked as a machinist in Denver City. He served in the U.S. Army as a Corporal during the Korean Conflict, and then married Barbara Sue Long on February 20, 1955 in Denver City. He worked for Sun Oil Company, which later became Oryx Energy Company for 32 years and retired as a production foreman. They lived in Denver City, Kermit, Odessa, and moved to Andrews in 1970. He loved woodworking, where he would make rocking horses, furniture, domino sets, and could repair about anything for anyone. He loved growing and shelling pecans, hunting for arrowheads, collecting coins, wheeling and dealing with guns, and was a proud lifetime member of the National Rifle Association (NRA). He was ornery and loved to tease people and was a stinker according to his wife. But most of all, he was a loving husband and father to his family and loved spending time with them. He was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church in Andrews and the Adult 2 Sunday School Class.
Milton is survived by his wife, Barbara Puckett, of Andrews, daughter, Cindy Puckett of Frisco; sister in law, Dixie Puckett of San Angelo; 4 grandchildren, Kelsey Dunn, Britney Knickerbocker, Chase Puckett, and Taryn Bell; and 8 great grandchildren.
Milton was preceded in death by his parents, son, Mike Puckett, brother, Leon Puckett, and sister, Ellen Puckett Martin.
