Esmeralda Villafuerte Vargas, 33, of Andrews and Odessa, passed away on Friday, June 14, 2019 in Midland.

Family and friends gathered to celebrate her life at 10:00 Tuesday, June 18, 2018 at the First Baptist Church, 201 NE 2nd Street, in Andrews with Pastor Brant O’Connor, officiating. Interment followed in the Andrews North Cemetery under the personal care of McNett Funeral Home. Esmeralda was born on September 24, 1985 in Andrews. She was raised in Andrews and graduated from Andrews High School in 2003. She graduated from Odessa College in Andrews with her LVN degree and had been working towards her RN degree. She had worked for several nursing homes in the area for about 9 years. She had lived in Andrews and Odessa, and she married Jose Miguel “Michael” Vargas on September 1, 2017 in Andrews. She loved working and caring for others, scrapbooking, writing in her journal, pizza and burgers, and spending time with her family, especially her children. She had attended First Baptist Church in Andrews, and she was preceded in death by her brother, Domingo Esteban Villafuerte.

Esmeralda is survived by her husband, Michael Vargas of Odessa, parents, Esteban and Ermelinda Villafuerte of Andrews, 2 sons, Luis Julian Villafuerte and Michael Esteban Vargas of Andrews, grandfather, Luis Villafuerte of Mexico, 6 siblings, Lisa Williams and husband, Keith, of Houston, Toni Wilson and husband, Kevin, of McAllen, Earlene Moreno of San Antonio, Estella Villafuerte and Kimberly Villafuerte of Andrews, and Esteban Villafuerte, Jr. and wife, Stephanie, of Astoria, New York.
