Dickie Lynn Carruth, 70, of Andrews passed away on Saturday, August 31, 2019 in Woodward, Oklahoma.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate his life at 10:00 AM Saturday, September 7, 2019 at McNett Funeral Home Chapel in Andrews with Bishop Jonnie C. Miller of Andrews, officiating. Military graveside rites by the United States Marine Corp. will follow in the Andrews West Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 PM on Friday at the funeral home. Dickie was born on September 24, 1948 in Andrews, Texas to Jodie Franklin Carruth and Estelle Clarissa Clem Carruth. He was raised in Andrews, attended Andrews schools, and married Mary Francis Grothe on November 12, 1966 in Houston. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corp. during the Vietnam Conflict during 1968 and 1969. He was fondly known as “Tex”, while serving for months as a self-appointed “Point Man” for 1st Marine Lima 3-1 Company. He received two Purple Hearts and the Navy Commendation. He had worked as a Hot Oil Unit Operator for many years. He proudly worked for his father’s company, Andrews Hot Oil Service. He also worked for Kinney, Inc. and Falcon Hot Oil. He had volunteered with the Boy Scouts of America and taught his two sons and other young men life skills. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Rohney James Dean.
Dickie is survived by his wife, Mary Francis Grothe Carruth of Andrews, sister, Ellen Ruth Zant of Odessa, son, Douglas Carruth and wife, LouAnn, of Andrews, son, Clinton Carruth of Andrews, daughter, Crystal Lynn Conner and husband, Michael, of Andrews, 10 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and numerous brother in laws, sister in laws, nephews, nieces, and cousins.
