Severo Castillo Luna, 77, of Andrews passed away on Tuesday, September 3, 2019 in Andrews.
Family and Friends will gather to celebrate his life at 10:00 AM Tuesday, September 10, 2019 at the Andrews Church of Christ, 201 NW 2nd Street, in Andrews with Minister Leslie L. Boone, officiating. Interment will follow in the Andrews North Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 – 7 PM on Monday at McNett Funeral Home. Severo was born on February 21, 1942 in Morton, Texas to Victoriano and Juanita Luna. He was raised in Andrews, Texas and had lived in South Gate, California. He had worked for Tidelands Oil Production Company in Long Beach, California for over 30 years as a Tool Pusher until he retired in 2002. He had been a member of Highlands Church in Palm-dale, California, where he helped build the church and work as a security guard during the building process. He moved back to Andrews, Texas in 2006. He was known for his sense of humor, enjoyed gardening, playing his guitar and singing. His favorite dishes to cook were Menudo, Tamales and Beans. He loved to share his passion for cooking with his Family and Friends. He loved to dance and would say “Let’s Throw the Chancla”. He volunteered his time in the Jail by spreading the word of God with the inmates. He was a Man of Faith and a Man on a Mission. He would carry his large wooden cross through the town, blessing and saying prayers for the community. He was a member of the Andrews Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Alfred “Freddy” Luna.
Severo is survived by his 5 children, Elaine Moreno and husband, Gustavo, of Lake Havasu City, Arizona, Barbara Masden and husband, John, of Lake Havasu City, Arizona, Severo Luna of San Bruno, California, Joseph Luna of Andrews, and Breanne Luna and Fiancé, Desirae Hernandez, of Andrews, 7 siblings, Olivia Galindo and husband, Neri, of Odessa, Jose Luna and wife, Lavonna, of Midland, Beatrice Saldivar of Andrews, Dolores Roberts and husband, Harvey, of Fort Worth, Gilbert Luna of Odessa, Ernest Luna and wife, Billie, of Dallas, and Adelina Meraz and husband, Mando, of Andrews, 9 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren.
