Marguerite Gillispie
Marguerite Gillispie passed from this life peacefully on Friday, February 21st, at the age of 90 in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. Marguerite was born to Roy and Ione McGill on December 9th, 1929 in Lamesa, TX. She was a 1947 graduate of Seminole High School and a 1951 graduate of West Texas A&M. She married her best friend, Jackie, on June 23, 1955, and remained married to him 9 days shy of 61 years when he passed in 2016. She longed to see that ‘red-headed boy’ again every day since. Marguerite made her living as a school teacher and partner and “supervisor” to Jackie in their many ventures. She loved to sew, making blankets and quilts for her children and grandchildren. She was an excellent gardener and cook and enjoyed watching basketball games on TV. She enjoyed fishing and roving around the ranch she called home for a number of years. Most of all, she adored Missy, her beloved tabby cat.
Marguerite is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her brother, Joe, and her brother and sister-in-law, Eldon & Maxine Sanders.
Marguerite is survived by her beloved feline, Missy, Eldest son: Jackie Don Gillispie, and wife, Cheryl, of Andrews, TX, Youngest son: Bob Gillispie, and wife Jana, and their family of Ferris, TX, Daughter: Janna Duggan of Henryetta, OK., Granddaughter: Ericka Carter, her husband, Bill, and daughter, Maddie, of Henryetta, OK, Granddaughter: Stacey Splawn and husband, David, and their children, Parker, Jack, Sam & Clark, of Marshall, TX, Grandson: Kelly Max Duggan and Tember Hopkins of New York City, NY, Granddaughter: Lauren Gudgel and husband, Richard, and daughters, Amelia and Eloise, of Andrews, TX, Son-in-law: Kenny Duggan of Midland, TX.,
Daughter-in-law: Pat Cheel, of Waco, TX, Sister-in-law, Sandra McGill, of Seminole, TX.
Mrs. Gillispie is also survived by her family at the Plantation House in Okmulgee, to whom her family will be forever grateful for their friendship and love.
Service will be 2:00pm, Wednesday, February 26, 2020 at the Rogers Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at the Westlawn Cemetery under the direction of the Rogers Funeral Home.
