Morris was born on June 11, 1933 in Pendleton, Texas to O.L. and Maurine Grimes. He grew up in Temple, Texas. He graduated from Temple High School and attended Temple Jr. College. While at Temple Jr. College, Morris acted in a play and little did he know his future wife of 65 years, Barbara Couch was in the audience. They were married on January 29, 1955 in New London, Texas. Morris joined the Air Force in 1953 and was stationed in Cut Bank, Montana, South Korea and Kingman, Arizona. Morris and Barbara moved to Andrews in 1957 when their son, Dale, was 9 months old. Later they would add a daughter, Susan, in 1959. They grew up in Andrews, enjoying all the activities, values and safety that a small town provides. Morris worked for Humble Oil, Andrews Postal Service and was a Real Estate Agent. He was a Mason, volunteered with Meals on Wheels and was a member of First Baptist Church. After retirement, “Mo”, as the grandchildren called him, enjoyed fishing on the Gulf Coast and Colorado. He also played golf and enjoyed drinking coffee with longtime friends at Cassidy’s.
Morris is survived by his wife, Barbara of Andrews, son, Dale Grimes and wife Cindy of Abilene, Texas, daughter, Susan Allison and husband Johnny of Houston, Texas, grandchildren, Kelan McCullen, Colter Allison, Kyndel Grimes and Tate Allison, great-grandchildren Cooper and Gentry McCullen and Nolan and Reagan Allison, aunt, Sister Brady of Temple, Texas and several cousins.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Home Hospice Andrews. They were the perfect definition of professionalism mixed with sweet compassion, caring and love for not only Mo, but his entire family.
