Sergio Pastrana Tarin

Sergio Pastrana Tarin was born on September 27, 1955 in Juarez, Chihuahua Mexico to Marcos De La Rosa Tarin and Paulina Pastrana Tarin. He had 2 brothers and 3 sisters: Marcos Jr, Samuel, Ernestina, Maria Isabel, and Jenny.

At the age of 6 years, Sergio came to live in El Paso, Texas and graduated from Bel-Aire High School to attended college and study architecture El Paso Community College. His father was a minister at First Apostolic Church where he was baptized on October 29, 1973 and received the Holy Spirit on August 10, 1975. He was an active musician in the church choir and traveled to Odessa and Midland, Texas for several youth services.

He met and fell in love with Maria Guadalupe Mendoza in El Paso on November 21, 1978 and received her hand in marriage on August 23, 1979 in Covington, Louisiana.

Sergio and Guadalupe decided to move back to El Paso and had their first son, Sergio Tarin Jr, on December 22, 1981. The family later moved to Andrews, Texas in February of 1982, where they decided to live and raise a family. Sergio worked at Marlo’s, Porter’s Thriftway, then for Andrews ISD. The family later had their second child, Betsy Tarin, on August 4, 1984 and their youngest son, Esteban Tarin, on June 27, 1986 in Midland, Texas.

Sergio was involved in the church and Apostolic Worship Center under the pastoral guidance of Abel V. Torres and Phil Marroquin. He was ordained on June 12, 1993 and became a minister on August 15, 1993. He served as the Sunday school superintendent, youth teacher, president of the men’s department, and loved to preach the word of God. He had the honor to baptize his children.

In 2010 Sergio began to serve at Reach Apostolic Community in Midland, Texas as minister. He continued to serve in many ministries and met new friends under the direction of Pastor Anatolio Bracamontes.

He enjoyed to fellowship with church people and was always united to the family. He looked forward to making his friends laugh, cooking BBQ’s, and travel with his beautiful wife. His biggest joy was to spend time with his grandchildren.

God decided to take Sergio to his eternal home in heaven on Thursday, November 26th at 11:25am due to Covid-19. He fought until the very end and we are grateful and blessed to have him in our lives.

He is survived by his wife Maria Guadalupe Mendoza Tarin, his two sons and daughter: Sergio Jr, Betsy Tarin, Esteban and his wife Yasmin Tarin, and his grandchildren: Jayden, Jordan, Zaya, and Zaylee Tarin.

Private services for the family are under the care of McNett Funeral Home.
