Roddy William Long

The man, the myth, the legend....Roddy William Long. There are no amount of words that could ever truly explain just how incredible Roddy was. He was the most amazing husband, father, “pops”, uncle, son, brother, cousin, and friend. He had a heart of gold, and even that is an understatement. He treated everyone he ever met with such kindness, he never met a stranger, and he was always quick to take anyone in without hesitation. Roddy had a laugh that was contagious, and he always wore a smile everywhere he went. You could almost always guarantee you would catch him with a sarcastic comment, and if he wasn’t joking around with you, something must have been wrong! Roddy’s love for his family was no secret. He was always so proud of his beautiful wife, precious girls, handsome nephews, and his two grandchildren that made him “Pops”. Roddy was an avid Oklahoma Sooner fan and proud Native American.

One of his favorite past times was being on the golf course with Addison and McKenzie... he was always his happiest there. Roddy was a hardworking and dedicated employee to Endura Products and most recently Jacam/Catalyst. God’s light shined bright through Roddy, you could see how strong his faith in the Lord was by how he loved others and how he chose to live his life. He was always the life of the party, and could brighten up any room he walked into. Roddy was brought into this life on September 19, 1958 in Andrews, Texas and he went to be with the Lord on November 25, 2020. He is preceded in death by his grandmother, Polly Ah-Lah-Quan Long, his parents, Pat and Chief Long, and his brother, Robby Long. He is survived by the love of his life of 35 years, Susan Long. Two daughters, Addison and husband, Clay Guelker of Midland, and McKenzie and husband, Blaine Chavez of Andrews. He was blessed with two grandsons, Ledgen and Brock Guelker. The Long name is carried on by his nephews, Cody, Tanner, and Chase and their families. He is also survived by many of the Martin family members that he loved as his own. God has gained the most amazing person, and although the world will not be the same without him, we rejoice for him and know that he is dancing on the floors of heaven with our Lord and Savior.

Services for Roddy were held Monday, November 30, 2020 at 1:30 PM at First Baptist Church in Andrews, Texas under the care of McNett Funeral Home. The family had visitation at the Long residence on Sunday, November 29, 2020 from 5-7 PM.
