Elizardo Pando

Elizardo Pando, 93, of Andrews, Texas passed away on Thursday, March 11, 2021.

Family and friends will gather to celebrate his life at 10:00 AM Monday, March 15, 2021 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with Pastor Joseph Ogbonna officiating. Interment will follow in the Andrews North Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 3:00 PM – 7:00 PM at the funeral home. A Rosary will be held at 6:00 PM on Sunday. Arrangements are under the personal care of McNett Funeral Home.

Elizardo was born on June 25, 1927 in Carlsbad, New Mexico to Pilar Pando and Manuela Saenz Pando. Elizardo was a father figure to his seven siblings at a young age when his own father passed away. He worked as a cowboy at many ranches and in the Fort Davis área breaking horses and branding cattle. You would always see him in his cowboy hat and boots. Elizardo was drafted during WWII. Soon after he made the train trip from Marfa, Texas to El Paso for his physical, he then learned that the war had ended. In the early 50s he met the love of his life Manuela (Nena). They were married for 61 years and blessed with five children. He worked for many years for Bowden Construction, Brown & Root Co., and J&J Roustabout, where he made many lifetime friends. He connected with many people during jis lifetime. He loved watching western movies and reading biographies. He was a comedian in his own way, imitating people and giving them nicknames. “Papi” was loved by his family and will be missed beyond eternity. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Manuela Pando and brother, Edmundo Pando.

Elizardo is survived by his children, Elsa Poole and husband Tony of Sugarland, Texas, Elma Martinez and husband Eddie of Odessa, Texas, Eli Pando, Jr. and wife Betty of Odessa, Texas, Eriberto Pando and wife Carmen of Odessa, Texas and Edna Perez and husband Lorenzo of Andrews, Texas, siblings, Eva Urias of Douglas, Arizona, Elia Polanco of Hobbs, New Mexico, Enrique Pando of Ojinaga, Chihuahua, Mexico , Eliaser Pando of Andrews, Texas, and Elinardo Pando of Plains, Texas, 13 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren
