Dora Jean Rushing

Dora Jean Rushing, age 93, of Andrews, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, January 4, 2022, in Andrews, Texas.

Family and friends gathered to celebrate her life at 2:00 PM, January 8, 2022, at McNett Funeral Chapel, in Andrews, Texas with pastor Kevin Covington officiating. Interment followed in the Andrews West Cemetery under the personal care of McNett Funeral Home. The family received friends on Friday, January 7, 2022, from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM at McNett Funeral Home.

Dora known as “Jean” Rushing was born on September 3, 1928, in Rosco, Texas to Arthur Nix and Dora “Clausell” Nix. She married Pat Lee Rushing on June 14, 1951, and they spent 65 amazing years together until his passing in 2006.

Jean was a nurse for 44 years and loved helping and caring for people. She had a great sense of humor. Jean met her husband Pat while caring for his mother and spent the next 65 years loving and caring for him. Jean was passionate about her family she loved her two boys and her husband more than anything. She was a loving wife, mother, and friend she will be dearly missed.

She is survived by her sons: Rick Rushing and wife Ival of Andrews, Texas, and Mark Rushing and wife Susie of Sweetwater, Texas. Grandchildren: Patrick Rushing, Desirae Sias, Jessica Barber, and Kimberly Hendrix, 9 great-grandchildren, and 2 Great-Great Grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents: Arthur and Dora Rushing, husband, Pat Lee Rushing, brothers, Colbert Alroy Nix, and Delpha Nix, and grandson, Brent Rushing.
