Roy Mayfield
Roy Mayfield, longtime resident of Andrews, Texas, passed to his heavenly home December 20, 2021.
Roy was born in Hockley County, Texas to Marvin and Eleanor Mayfield on February 15, 1944. The family moved to Andrews in 1942. Roy graduated from Andrews High School in 1962 and went on to a varied and interesting career path. After graduation, he went to work for M&M Chevrolet as parts manager. He loved racing and working on cars, especially Corvettes and formed the R&R Racing Team. He then went into public service as a deputy sheriff, where he served for the next six years. His next venture took him into the world of aviation. He got his pilot’s license and continued training until he was certified to fly jet engine aircraft. Roy spent the next six years as a corporate pilot. He went into the oilfield and worked as a salesman for a few years. After he left his sales job, he went to work for Andrews County where he spent the next fifteen years until his retirement.
Roy loved his family and really enjoyed spoiling his nieces and nephews.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Eleanor Mayfield and his brother Robert.
He is survived by his sister, Wanda Hulan and husband Bobby of Andrews; niece, Teresa Kupkufske and husband Billy of Andrews; nephew, Wesley Mayfield of Ft. Worth; great nephews and nieces, Cameron Hulan and wife Mikah, Kye Kupkufske, Scotty Mayfield, Kelton Beard and Sabrah Beard; great-great nephews and nieces, Kolton, Carleigh, and Piper Hulan.
Graveside memorial service was scheduled for Friday, December 31, 2021 at Old Andrews Cemetery in Andrews Texas at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to St. Jude or his niece’s animal rescue via PayPal: cowgirlrescue@yahoo. com.
