Reverend James H. Linton of Andrews, Texas went to be with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Thursday, January 27th, 2022, at the age of 78. He passed away at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa, Texas.

James was born to Howard and Irene Linton on July 5, 1943, in Norphlet, Arkansas. He had one Sibling, Mary Stevens. He met his wife, Dorothy Vicars of Clyde, Texas while stationed at Dyess Air Force Base in Abilene, Texas and married her on March 6, 1964, at First Baptist Church in Clyde, Texas. After Graduating from Norphlet High School, James began to train in the Machinist Trade. He then joined the United States Air Force for 4 years. After his discharge from service, James continued to make a living as a machinist and feeling the call to be a Minister he enrolled in Texas Bible College in Houston, Texas for 3 years. After pastoring and assisting in several Churches in Arkansas he took a Pastorate position at the First United Pentecostal Church in Andrews, Texas in 1983. James served as a Pastor in Andrews for 39 Years and was still Pastoring at the time of his departure. He had recently received his 50-year service award as an Ordained and Licensed Minister with the United Pentecostal Church International. James was a power lifter and continued to work out through the years. He passionately exercised his second amendment right and loved to shoot and collect firearms. His shop and machining equipment were something he enjoyed also. Books were another passion, and he had many books to aid in his ministry and enjoyed DIY and some fiction. James Linton was a true Patriarch. He loved and cared for his immediate family and church family. He ministered to many throughout his life. His true passion was to lead people in discovering the truth and power of God. He was not ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He fought the good fight, he finished the race, he kept the faith. There is laid up for him a Crown of Righteousness. 2 Timothy 4:6-8

He is survived by his wife Dorothy Linton of Andrews, Sons Bryan and Brett Linton of Andrews, Son Barry Linton and Daughter-in-Law Stacy Linton of Andrews, Daughters Melissa and Michelle Linton of Andrews, Granddaughters Lacey Rodriguez and Amanda Linton and her Fiancé Alfonso Espinoza, Great Grandchildren Destiney Rodriguez, Drake Rodriguez and Nevaeh Meza.

He was preceded in death by his parents Howard and Irene Linton, Sister Mary Stevens, Niece Bobbie Grafton, Great Grandson Ethan Meza and Brother-in-Law Robert Vicars.
