Harold “Wayne” Eppler, 81, of Granbury, TX passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, March 2, 2022.

Family and friends gathered to celebrate Wayne’s life at 2 PM Tuesday, March 8, 2022, at The Andrews Church of Christ with John Snider and Leslie Boone Officiating. Burial followed at the Andrews County Old Cemetery. Visitation was held Monday, March 7, 2022, from 5 PM – 9 PM at McNett Funeral Home. Arrangements under the care of McNett Funeral Home.

Wayne was born on September 6, 1940, in Abilene, TX to Henry Buck Eppler and Frances Nadine Eppler. Wayne Graduated from Andrews High School in 1957. He married Mary Nell Jackson on August 18, 1961, in Andrews, TX.

In May of 1964, he graduated from Texas Tech University. After graduation he began his career in the insurance business and worked for Miller Mutual Insurance Co. In July of 1965, he began working with Farmers Insurance Claims in Midland, TX. He was promoted to supervisor and then branch claims manager during his 13 years in claims. During this time and management promotions he and his family would be transferred to Albuquerque, NM, then to Denver, CO, then back to Midland, TX. In 1978, Wayne took over Eppler Insurance from his mother Frances Eppler when she retired. He ran the agency until he retired in 2009 after 44 years. Prior to retirement, he bought Sheila Tom Properties and operated it for five years.

After retirement, Wayne and Mary moved to Granbury, TX where he was a member of the Granbury Church of Christ. He liked to golf, fish, and ride his boat. He liked to listen to audio books and relax. They loved to travel in their motor home. You rarely saw them apart from each other. They would take day trips to see their grandkids and great grandkids ball games or school programs. He made sure to attend anything they could. He loved to spend time with his family. Wayne was a loyal Texas Tech fan, especially Texas Tech football and basketball.

Wayne is survived by his wife, Mary Nell Eppler of Granbury; children, Alan Eppler of Andrews, Pam and Ramon Escobar of Andrews, Mike Eppler of Lubbock, and Sasha and Robby Shults of Texarkana; grandchildren, Wes Escobar, Justin and Marice Escobar, Megan Escobar, Rosalinda Vasquez, Tate and Becca Eppler, Mason Eppler, Anna Shults, and Abby Shults; great grandchildren, Alexander Escobar, Jordyn Escobar, and Aubrey Escobar; siblings, Jan Jackson, Larry and Nancy Jackson, and Bill Young; many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews; and grand-dogs, Wrigley, Harley, and Diezel.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Frances N. Eppler; father, Henry Buck Eppler; sister, Frances Ann Young; grandchild, Michael Eppler, and brother-in-law, Don Jackson.

In Lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the New Mexico Children’s Home and/or Cherokee Children’s Home.
