James “Jim” Leroy Cardinal

James “Jim” Leroy Cardinal, age 81, of Andrews, passed away peacefully June 8, 2022, in Andrews, Texas.

Friends and family gathered to celebrate his life from 10:00AM – 11:00AM, Tuesday, June 14, 2022, at McNett Funeral Home Chapel, in Andrews, Texas with David Ashabranner and Les Gross Officiating. Visitation was held Monday, June 13, 2022, from 6:00PM – 8:00PM in McNett Funeral Home Chapel.

James was born on August 2, 1940, to Leroy Cardinal and Lorene Powell in Purcell, Oklahoma. He married the love of his life, Bobby Penney on January 20, 1990, in beautiful Las Vegas, Nevada. They went on to spend 32 loving years together. James was in the military for 3 years stationed in Germany, and 3 more years in the Army reserves. He worked several years for Carl Ham. He owned and operated Cardinal Well Service and Cardinal Trucking. James won several safety awards. He then opened C & L Rentals until he retired and went on to work with his wife at ABC Tax Service. His family loved James for his amazing cooking especially BBQ for family gatherings and several other occasions. On his free time, he loved to travel, go fishing and go hunting. James was a loving husband, father, and paw paw.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Sister, Son, and Grandson.

James is survived by his Wife Bobby Cardinal of Andrews, Texas; His daughters Sandra Sandell and husband Richard of Huntsville, Texas.; Tabitha Sawyer of Andrews, Texas; Amanda Wilson of Andrews, Texas and his Son Chris Hobbs and wife Amber of Andrews, Texas; 16 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

The family would like to acknowledge Home Hospice for all their compassion shown to him.
