Elzie Eugene Hyde

Elzie Eugene Hyde, 85, passed away on Thursday, September 29, 2022 at his home in Andrews, Texas.

Family and friends gathered to celebrate his life at 10:00AM Monday, October 3, 2022 at Grace Baptist Church in Andrews, Texas with Pastor Jeff Chapman officiating. Interment followed at the Andrews Old Cemetery. Arrangements are under the personal care of McNett Funeral Home.

Eugene was born on May 19, 1937 in Windfield, Alabama to Tommie Hyde and Lela Garner Hyde. He married Norma Lee Westbook in Marion County, Alabama on July 5, 1969. They moved to Andrews in 1974 and he worked as a Pulling Unit Operator for many years. In his pastime he enjoyed woodworking, playing computer games, going to the Senior Center and spending time with his special friend, Arlene Randolph. Eugene was a dedicated member of Grace Baptist Church and proudly served his country in the United States Marines. He is preceded in death by his parents Tommie and Lela Hyde, his wife, Norma, a son, Zachary Neil Hyde, a grandson David Hernandez III, his sister, Pat McCain of Andrews and brothers, Wayne, Ronald, Walter, Duke, and James Hyde all of Missouri.

He is survived by his son Bobby Eugene Hyde of Andrews, Texas, daughters, Linda Ruiz and husband Benjamin of Andrews, Texas, Alice Hernandez and husband David of Andrews, Texas and Lora Bray of Andrews, Texas, siblings, Jimmy Dale Hyde, Mary Heuring, and Linda Nierman, all of Missouri, Eugene has 7 Grandchildren and 12 Great-Grandchildren.
