Paula Manes Smith

Paula Manes Smith, age 70, of Odessa, Texas, passed away on January 6, 2023, in Austin, Texas.

Paula was born on October 3, 1952, to William Paul Manes and Sammie Jo Manes (Burk) in Andrews, Texas. After Paula graduated from Andrews High School in 1971, she went on to study Pharmacy at Southwestern Oklahoma State University.

Paula, upon receiving her degree in Pharmacy, started a long career as a Pharmacist, practicing in Odessa for most of her 40year career.

In 1982, Paula met Stephen (Steve) Garrett Smith in Odessa and they married on April 17, 1982. The couple went on to have one daughter, Sarah Smith Johnson.

Paula was preceded in death by her parents, William and Sammie Jo of Andrews, Texas, and husband, Steve of Odessa, Texas. She is survived by her daughter, Sarah and husband Jason Johnson and daughter Elie of Austin, Texas. One sister, Glenna Manes Wheat and husband Dr. Carrol Wheat of Surprise, Arizona. Nephews Bradford Wheat and his family of Colleyville, Texas and Benjamin Wheat and his family of Surprise, Arizona.

A memorial service will be held at Bethany Christian Church on Friday, January 20, 2023, at 10:30am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Bethany Christian Church, where Paula and Steve were faithful members for over 35 years.
