Sharon Starks
Sharon Starks., age 76, of Andrews, Texas, passed from this life Thursday, September 14, 2023, in Granbury, Texas.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate her life at 1:00 PM, Thursday, September 21, 2023, at McNett Funeral Home in Andrews, TX., with Pastor Leslie Boone officiating. Burial will Follow at the Andrews North Cemetery. Visitation will be held 5:00PM8:00PM, Wednesday, September 20, 2023, at McNett Funeral Home. Arrangements are under the personal care of McNett Funeral Home.
Sharon was born August 12, 1947, in Seminole Texas to S.D. Williams and Marion Ruth “Wallace”. She was a hard-working and loving mother. Sharon began working at the young age of 14 as a waitress. While waitressing she met the love of her life and soon to be life partner Preston Starks, it was love at first sight. After 3 months of seeing each other, they married. Sharon and Preston married September 2, 1963, in Andrews Texas, where they began their lives together. In 1964 they had their first child Vicki Diane and in 1968 their 2nd Sharon Ruth. At the age of 22 Sharon began working at Anthonys as a bookkeeper and sales associate. Sharon stayed with Anthonys as it turned to Bealls retail where she was the manager and eventually the District Manager. Sharon gave 40 years of service and was awarded several company awards. In addition to working retail Sharon and Preston were also pig farmers, and dump truck drivers. Throughout the days of C.B Radios she was known as “Porkchop Lady”, and to her friends and family she was known as the “pig whisperer”. On her spare time from working Sharon loved to go dancing and going to the casinos with Preston. Since the passing of her husband in 2011, Sharon has enjoyed traveling with her 2 daughters, and spending time with her grandchildren who have always held a special place in her heart. She was an amazing mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. Sharon will be dearly missed by so many.
She is survived by her daughters: Vicki Gonzales and husband Brian of Andrews, TX.; and Sharon Ruth Tuck and husband Don of Granbury, TX.; brother: Ron Williams of Dallas, TX.; sisters: Belinda McMennamy and husband John of Lubbock, TX.; and Myleah Frederick and husband Terry of Odessa, TX.; grandchildren: Zackary Humphrey; Zandy Humphrey; Keegan Ellis and wife Khrystyne; Nick Ellis and wife Sammy; Rylan Ellis; and Christine Jackson; and 11 great grandchildren.
Sharon is preceded in death by her husband of 48 years: Preston Starks; parents: S.D. and Marion Williams; sister: Helen Tate; mother-in-law: Ruby Jacobson; brotherin- law: Calvin Jacobson; and great grandson: Levi Ellis.
