Sandra Faye King, a beacon of love and faith, passed away peacefully on June 8, 2024, at the age of 75 in Lubbock, Texas. Born on October 18, 1948, in Haleyville, Alabama, Sandra’s life was a tapestry of devotion to her family, her career, and her community.

Sandra’s journey began as the cherished daughter of Jesse and Irene Harris. She grew up alongside her sisters, Barbara and Michelle, in a home filled with warmth and laughter. Sandra’s early years in Alabama laid the foundation for a life characterized by compassion and service to others.

After marrying the love of her life, Kelly King, Sandra embraced her role as a wife with grace and dedication. Their union was blessed with two daughters, Jacqui and Jennifer, who Sandra raised with the same love and care she had known as a child. Her family grew to include son-in-law Steve and grandchildren Christian, Keldon, and Chloe, who brought immense joy to her life.

Sandra’s professional path as a Juvenile Probation Officer in Pecos and Ward Counties was marked by her unwaver-ing commitment to guiding young lives towards brighter futures. Her colleagues respected her for her integrity and leadership, especially during her tenure as Chief Juvenile Probation Officer. Sandra’s work extended beyond her official duties as she was an active member of the West Texas Chiefs Association, contributing to the betterment of her profession.

Creativity flowed through Sandra’s veins, manifesting in the beautiful quilts she crafted with skill and love. Each stitch was a testament to her artistic spirit, and her quilts became cherished heirlooms for family and friends. Sandra’s creative legacy will continue to provide warmth and comfort for generations.

A woman of deep faith, Sandra was a devoted member of Southside Baptist Church in Monahans, Texas. Her Christian beliefs were the cornerstone of her existence, guiding her actions and interactions with everyone she met. Sandra’s smile was a reflection of the happiness that her faith brought to her life, and it was a source of inspiration to all who knew her.

Sandra is survived by her devoted husband of 55 years, Kelly King; her loving daughters, Jacqui Wiederhold and her husband Steve of Bryan, Texas, and Jennifer King of Fort Stockton; her caring sister, Michelle Sawyer and her husband Mitchell of Andrews, Texas; her adoring grandchildren, Christian Cosper and his wife Malyssa of Fort Stockton, Keldon Cosper and his wife Anna of Grapevine, Texas, and Chloe Cosper of Conroe, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Irene Harris, and her sister, Barbara Steward.

Sandra Faye King’s legacy is one of love, service, and faith. Her life’s work and the memories she created will continue to resonate in the hearts of those she touched. As we bid farewell to this extraordinary woman, we take solace in the knowledge that her spirit lives on through the lives she enriched with her presence. Sandra’s journey on earth has ended, but her story will be told for years to come, a story of a life well-lived and a woman deeply loved.
